Emma Watson Named Most ‘Dangerous’ Celebrity

Watson

is the favorite celebrity bait for cyber criminals trying to lure Internet users.

McAfee said Monday that the “Harry Potter” star is the “most dangerous” celebrity to search for online. That’s because many sites use Watson to trick users into downloading malicious software or to steal personal information.

When searching for the 22-year-old Watson, there’s a one-in-eight chance of landing on a malicious site.

This is the sixth time the Intel-owned security technology company has conducted the study, which was last year topped by Heidi Klum. Female celebrities are far more likely to be utilized by cyber criminals: late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was the only male in the top 20.

10 Most Dangerous Celebrities To Search: McAfee

Computer security company McAfee has released its fifth annual top ten list of worst celebrities to search for if you want to hold on to your social security number.

The ranking of the most dangerous celebrities to search for is determined by which celebrity image search is most likely to land the searcher on a website that contains spyware, malware, adware, spam, or viruses. Top finishers range from the obvious — models and people who have graced the cover of Maxim — to the less obvious — a certain forty-something British news anchor. According to the McAfee report, “Hot movies and TV shows, awards and industry accolades seem to be more of a factor than headline-grabbing activity,” which is one reason you’re more likely to see Mila Kunis than Charlie Sheen.

President Obama To Name Twitter CEO To Advisory Committee

Once again signaling his close ties with Silicon Valley, President Barack Obama plans to draft Twitter CEO Dick Costolo to his National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.

In a White House statement released Thursday evening, Obama named Costolo, along with Scott Charney, corporate VP of Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing Group, McAfee President David G. DeWalt and three others, as potential appointees. The group oversees the availability and reliability of telecom services in the U.S.

Costolo became Twitter CEO last October after co-founder Evan Williams stepped down.

The move is Obama’s latest overture to Silicon Valley. In his January State of the Union address, the president name-checked Google and Facebook. The following month, Obama shared a dinner with Eric Schmidt, then-CEO of Google; Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, among others, at the home of Silicon Valley venture capitalist John Doerr.
