Post from Mashable authored by Tom Anderson

Tom Anderson is the founder and former president of MySpace. MySpace sold in 2005, and Anderson left the company in early 2009. You can find him on Google+, Twitter or Facebook.

Sometimes when you follow a trend, you fall flat on your face.

Early adopters of Google+ have declared that Twitter is now “obsolete” and that they are “bored” using Twitter. Most suggestions for improvement are a list of Google+ features that Twitter doesn’t have.

Yet, even while Twitter’s own CEO, Dick Costolo, has maintained that Twitter will remain simple, the company’s founder and executive chairman Jack Dorsey recently let go four key product people from Twitter, indicating some kind of change is in the works. So what’s @Jack to do? What does the future of Twitter look like?

Twitter revamps Home Page again

Published by pratyushkp on April 20th, 2011 - in Social, Technology

Brings new slick look and strikingly similar to Facebook

Earlier this month, popular micro-blogging social network -Twitter tried to makes it new slick homepage live. Due to some unexpected server issues, the new homepage got reverted to the previous one. But the new home page of Twitter was visible to select users only. Today the new Twitter Home Page/Sign-in Page was made live to all users.
Home Page refresh seems to be a yearly cycle for Twitter because the social network revamped its home page last year in March. Ever since the implementation of new Twitter Home Page took place, elements of service started its disappearing act one by one. While fixing those temporarily absent features like Trends, Lists, etc., new Home Page finally went live for all users. With the New Twitter and now a new Home Page, Twitter is slowly making User Interface changes. Several users loved the new neat looking homepage and that includes me too.
However, several users feel that it looks like Facebook login page but that won t cause any lawsuit between Twitter and Facebook. In any case, Twitter is more focused now on offering relevant search results in real-time than anything else. Do let me know your thoughts whether you like the new home page with good reasons for your opinion.

Is Twitter really dying?

Published by pratyushkp on April 16th, 2011 - in Social, Technology

Jack Dorsey designed the word Twitter in 2006 after he noticed people sending short messages to each other wanting to know about each other’s status.

Today Twitter has covered 200 million people who communicate in an orderly, simple fashion unlike that noisy Facebook messages- in short one is devoid of target ads, friends request and flippant messages from unknown folks!!! .

However Twitter’s usage is limited because of fewer visitors and alarming outrages which is making it unprofitable. Ubbermedia the company behind mobile twitter is planning to create a microblogging network, one that may do away with the famous 140 character limit.  Should twitters move to a town with fewer regulations so that Jacks dream does not die an early death???

Users believe that the 140 characters limit is irritating and does not allow them to post their entire status or mood. Other social media site like “Tumblr” seems to be more appealing. Even Facebook has a higher limit. Thus, if twitter wants to increase its fan following, the primary step for “Jack Dorsey” is to do away with this “character limit” or at least expand it.
