Idiom design’s responsible for Commonwealth Mascot Shera

As the commonwealth games opens with a roar of pride today, one mustn’t forget our lovable mascot Shera who is roaring loud enough to awaken the sprit of healthy competition among the athletes.

Shera was designed by Bangalore-based Idiom Designs and Solutions who won the mandate for coming up with the look for the Commonwealth Games (CWG). The company was not only responsible for the CWG mascot Shera, they were also entrusted with the responsibility to create the chakra logo, graphics and the overall look of the city, in the competitive as well as the non-competitive venue’s in the state.

According to Sonia Manchanda, Principal Designer, Idiom, who was in-charge of the project, every element they designed had a story or a concept behind it. The idea behind the Logo which looks like petals spiraling upwards, for which the Idiom’s design team has  incorporated the 24 chakras of the National Flag to symbolize movement, self-reliance and the independence of India, was to have something that could prove inspirational, youthful, festive and celebratory while the rising chakras capture the “energy and spirit” of the nation.

The lovable shera was designed to represent energy, speed and courage.
