Wipro Infotech is all set to develop software for digitizing its crime and criminal tracking network system under the national e-governance plan.
The government of India has selected Wipro Infotech to develop a software that will create a digital record of crime and criminal tracking network system under the national e-governance plan. The project which will cost Rs2, 000, is to be deployed in 4,000 police stations and 6,000 other police offices across the country, connecting them with each other and the New Delhi situated National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) which will help in catching criminals and prevent crime.
The software will also help the general public to keep track of the status of their complaints and find details such as the number of crimes in their locality.
According to head for government products, Wipro Infotech, Ranbir Singh,” The application has to be designed so that any police officer sitting in any police station across the country is able to access crime records from across the country,”
The network system project was one more step towards enabling the government accelerate efforts in detecting and preventing crimes in the country, he added.
