Opera Founder Jon S. von Tetzchner Resigns

Opera founder Jon S. von Tetzchner has resigned from the company.

In an email to Opera employees, von Tetzchner said that “It has become clear that The Board, Management and I do not share the same values and we do not have the same opinions on how to keep evolving Opera. As a result I have come to an agreement with the Board to end my time at Opera. I feel the Board and Management is more quarterly focused than me.” You can read the full email below.

Von Tetzchner co-founded Opera Software in 1995, and led the company up to 2010, when he resigned as CEO. He then became a full-time strategic advisor to the company.

Internet mastermind Vint Cerf Alerts over address changes

Is the growth of the world wide web is rapidly depleting the store? As the experts predict; in less than 18 months there will be no more big blocks of net addresses to give out.

“There’s work to be done. It’s not massive work but it is meticulous work” quotes Mr.Cerf.

Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the internet, spoke, “With current addresses due to run out in 2012, nations and businesses must get on with switching.”

Although during the switch internet links could become unreliable, making sites and services hard to reach. He stated that instability could last years, as even search giant Google, took three years to get its IPv6 network up and running.

According to the Internet masterminds, the net has grown to its current size using version 4 of its addressing scheme (IPv4), which allows for about 4.3 billion addresses. And estimates suggest that this pool of addresses will be exhausted by the end of January 2012.

“The business community needs to understand that this is an infrastructure they are relying on and it needs to change for them to continue to grow and to rely on it,” Mr Cerf said.

He criticised global businesses, saying they were “short-sighted” for not making the shift sooner.

Time is running out for firms to get using the replacement addressing scheme!

Bom Sabado Virus Attacks Google

Google is fighting a virus that has launched a attack on its social networking site Orkut.

Social networking site Orkut is currently hit by a virus problem.Dubbed ‘Bom Sabado, which means ‘Good Saturday’ in Portuguese, the worm has attacked the XSS (cross-site scripting) of the site and posted scraps to the Orkut users with the text Bom Sabado and sent to the users account by the name of the other friends account.

Google has asked Orkut users to not login for a while and have asked users to refresh their browser cookies & cache. Google has also advised users to change the password and the security question as well.

Microsoft Unveils Beta Version Of Explorer

The beta version of Microsoft’s Internet Explore 9 was launched today.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 is all set to compete with Google chrome, with the launch of its beta version. The new version of IE is not merely an updated version, but rather a major overhaul of the interface and back-end coding to improve usability, security, and speed.

Knowing pretty well that its competitors like chrome and firefox are a step ahead of them because of their speed, they have improved the download speed of their websites. In addition to offering support for HTML5 and CSS3 thanks to hardware acceleration the IE9 uses the PC’s graphics chip, built to render video and games as quickly and flawlessly as possible, to display website graphics much faster than running them through the computer’s main CPU chip.

The new, improved download manager of IE9 allows you to pause and continue downloads and has been redesigned to include reputation-based security which will eliminate security warning pop-up boxes for downloads of popular files and those from trusted vendors.IE9 will also includes a private-browsing mode, called InPrivate, that doesn’t store a users browser history, nor does it save any cookies of the sites a user visit’s while in private mode
