The first phone with a dedicated Facebook button is coming soon to an AT&T near you.
According to Boy Genius Report, HTC’s so-called “Facebook Phone”, featuring both a dedicated button for the social network and deep Facebook integration, will launch in as soon as one week.
Though the phone has previously been called the “ChaCha,” HTC has reportedly renamed the device the “HTC Status.”
The phone, which will sport a QWERTY keyboard, will let users connect to Facebook directly from apps like the camera and address book and will also include a 2.6-inch display with 480×320-pixels resolution, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera for video chat. The phone will run Android‘s Gingerbread operating system.
A chat widget will allow users to connect with friends in groups, or privately. Other widgets will also be Facebook-centric. One will show a clock with a Facebook update stream, another a calendar populated with birthdays and events from the site. A Friend Stream widget will let users follow their closest friends.
The HTC Salsa, a touchscreen phone also featuring a Facebook button, is facing some delays and won’t be available as soon as the HTC Status, according to BGR.
