Yahoo Revamps Yahoo Mail & Yahoo Messenger!

Yahoo has unveiled a beta version of its new Yahoo Mail & Yahoo Messenger.

With Facebook launching an innovative mail service and AOLtweaking itself, it was time Yahoo! revamped itself to stay ahead of the competition or stay in the competition. Yahoo has unveiled its 11th edition of the Messenger and Mail service.

Dubbed Yahoo! Messenger 11 Beta and Yahoo! Mail Beta yahoo promise a whole new experience and new features for users.

The New Revamped Yahoo Messenger

Users will now be able to post updates on social networking sites like Facebook, Pulse, Flickr and Twitter. Yahoo messenger will now allow users to play games with their contacts just like in Facebook (Facebook games like Mafia wars, Fishville etc.. soon to be added).

Yahoo Messenger 11 also enables users to chat with their friends on Facebook Chat using the dedicated instant messaging client. Yahoo! Messenger 11 will also allows multiple sign-ins, so you won’t get disconnected from your desktop if you sign in on your mobile device and the messages will be sent to all the signed in devices at the same time.

The New Revamped Yahoo Mail

The new Yahoo mail beta has been designed from the scratch, in addition to having equipped with integration to social networking sites. Yahoo has also improved security, giving users additional protection from spam.

The revamped yahoo mail will now allow users to view Photos and videos from Flickr, Picasa, and YouTube directly. In addition to that searching for mail and sorting it out becomes easier.

Yahoo mail unveils Beta version which claims to be two-three times faster than the previous version of Yahoo Mail.

Yahoo Mail takes a whole new avatar with the launch of its beta version that claims to be feature rich and faster than before.

In a bid to catch up with its competitors, Yahoo mail has rolled out a Yahoo Mail beta interface that promises users a whole new experience. The new Yahoo mail beta offers a new interface with social networking sites Facebook, Twitter which will let users to post updates on their social networking sites as well as view photos and videos from Flickr, Picasa and YouTube without ever leaving Yahoo Mail.

The New Yahoo mail beta promises to be two-three times faster than the previous version of Yahoo Mail and has redesigned its instant messaging which will look more like a standard, smaller-windowed IM client, which will let users to use tabs for multiple IM conversations and SMS dialogs. In addition to all this yahoo mail has improved its spam filtering and has introduced tools to search through mail that will help better sort and prioritize messages.

Twitter Gets A Makeover

Twitter has unveiled a new design for it websites user interface.

Twitter is all set to tweet a new tune after its user interface has been redesigned to make it more feature rich and attractive to users.

The New Changes Users Will Have To Get Used To Are

? Twitter has introduced a dual-panel layout that allows embedded photos and videos, which means pictures and videos will play immediately on the right side of the page, without users needing to open additional tabs or browser windows. Twitter has partnered with 16 media companies, including YouTube, Flickr, TwitPic and Vimeo, to get permission to embed media from those sites onto Twitter.com.

? Users can now click on a Tweet, opening up additional information about the tweet in a second panel. For example, if you click the Twitter handle, the right pane will show that person’s mini-profile in the same window. In the past, clicking on the handle would open a new window, forcing users to leave the Twitter timeline.

The feature has been rolled out to select users and will slowly be rolled to other users by the end of this month.

YouTube Testing Live Streaming

YouTube is testing a new platform that will allow live streaming of content in its site.

YouTube on Monday tested a new live video streaming service that will allow it to expand its Live Streaming platform. YouTube used this platform last year when it showed on its site the IPL (Indian Premier League) matches for fans all over the world. YouTube will now partner with four partner sites Howcast, Rocketboom, Next New Networks, and Young Hollywood to provide more content for users around the world.

According to YouTube product manager Joshua Siegel “This new platform integrates live streaming directly into YouTube channels; all broadcasters need is a Webcam or external USB/FireWire camera. Included in the test is a “Live Comments” module which lets you engage with the broadcaster and the broader YouTube community. For the purpose of the trial, this offering will only be available today and tomorrow. Based on the results of this initial test, we’ll evaluate rolling out the platform more broadly to our partners worldwide.”

What viewers can expect as the testing period progress is a live tutorial on filmmaking, a magician teaching magic tricks and a cooking session with a New York chef courtesy by Howcast.
YouTube will face direct competition from services like Ustream, Livestream and Justin.tv that offer live streaming services. And last not least the biggest competition it will face will come from the Television set which it threatens to replace.

Around The World With YouTube

YouTube has launched “Life in a Day” channel which will help show users glimpses of day-to-day life around the world.

Youtube announced a competition in the month of July where user where urged to send in videos of their day-to day life. People from around the world were encouraged to send in their videos. The project was to be edited and used as part of a documentary by Director Kevin Macdonald and producer Ridley Scott.

A “Life in a Day” channel launched by YouTube will share with users videos captured by cameras as part of an experiment to create a documentary about a single day on Earth. A total of 80,000 videos were submitted from 197 countries in what YouTube billed as a project to create “the world’s largest user-generated film”. To make browsing easy, you can sort videos by geography, time of day, mood and more.” This documentary film will be screened at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival scheduled to be held in Utah in January.

YouTube describes this film as a “historic cinematic experiment” proposed to “document one day, as seen through the eyes of people around the world.”

Now YouTube To Feature Full Length Movies

YouTube has launched a free movie service that will feature full length movies.

YouTube has joined hands with www.blinkbox.com, British online film and TV aggregator, and US studios like Lionsgate, MGM and Sony Pictures to provide users with full length feature films. Users of you tube will now be able to view movies from a catalog of full length 400 movies that include both Hollywood and Bollywood flicks. Available at http://www.youtube.com/movies, the movies are divided into categories of Documentary, Action/Adventure, Bollywood, Horror, comedy and animation, the movies are shown free of cost though one will have to pay for the Internet charges.

YouTube plans to provide a mixture of recent hits and cult classic movies for its users. According to Donagh O’Malley, Head of Video Partnerships, YouTube told Guardian, “This is one of many efforts to ensure that people can find all the different kinds of video they want to see, from bedroom vlogs and citizen journalism reports to full-length films and TV shows. This is a first step.”
