Farmville gets English Countryside Level

English themed level will kick in for all players who have reached level 20

Farmville just got a brand new addition to its level roster with Farmville English Countryside, which has a very British slant to it. The level will be available to all players who reach level 20 in the regular version of the game starting tomorrow. This is the first time the game has got a country specific content, which is open to every player irrespective of their nationality.

In English Countryside levels, players assume the role of an English Duke on a mission to restore the village farms back to their grandeur. The new level allows players to change their avatar’s attire to take up a British theme by dressing like an ‘English Lady’ or a ‘Dashing Gent‘. It will feature natively English plants and crops like King Edward potatoes, foxgloves, and redcurrants and. The level will be dotted with more distinctly recognisable English features like English cottages, traditional police call boxes and British animals like Shorthorn cows, Shire horses and Dorking chickens.

Someone in Zynga loves the Brits because the crops in Farmville English Countryside grow quicker due to “the premium English soil”. We wonder how the French will take to these British levels.

Facebook Re-Works Its Gaming Platform

Facebook will limit the Facebook Feeds based on its games.

Facebook games designed by Zynga has truly revolutionized computer games by luring our friends into competing with us through feeds boasting of their achievements or asking us to join them in the fun. The Facebook game feeds are often posted online along with our regular post’s making it a daily affair.

But all that is going to change with Facebook revamping its gaming platform. According to Jared Morgenstern, product manager for games at Facebook,” we’re launching features to give you better control over the updates you see in your News Feed,”

Notifications to Facebook users about games will be limited to those users who are actually playing them; if users are not playing “Farmville” or “Mafia Wars,” for example, won’t automatically receive new notifications about them. The revamping will also include a new button called the “Games section” which will include player requests.

Facebook Races Ahead Of Orkut In India

Market researchers have rated Facebook as the most favorite rate as compared to Orkut that has come in second.

Though Facebook reached India late, it seems to be the latest “in” thing. Market researcher’s comScore’s latest report states that Facebook has won the number one rank with 20.9 million visitors in July while Orkut on the other hand recorded 19.9 million visitors in the same year.

The 3rd rank was taken by BharatStudent.com, a social utility that aims to bring together young Indians living across the globe while Yahoo Pulse with 3.5 million visitors bagged the fourth place. While twitter which has become the latest fad among celebrities managed to get only 3.3 million visitors in the country, putting it in fifth place.

Facebook has apparently built its 500 million fan base with the help of its intuitive user interface, variety of games and applications like FarmVille, FishVille, Mafia Wars, Sudoku and many more, Facebook has also built up a image of being cool and the combination of these facts have made it India’s most favorite social networking site.
