Blog Privacy Policy & Disclaimers Explained

English: A troll sockpuppet to illustrate the ...

Even if your blog isn’t what you consider to be your “full-time job” it does contain information that is available for anyone anywhere to access whenever they want. Because of this, there are certain legal loose ends you need to tend to so that you don’t end up getting caught in any legal crossfire should someone feel you misled them with information that you did, or didn’t, provide. This doesn’t mean you need to rush out and hire a lawyer, but you do want to take a few minutes to make sure that you have all your ducks in a row. This is where privacy policies, disclaimers, and disclosures come into play.

5 Tips for Dealing with Negativity on Your Blog

negative feedback system

It’s almost inevitable that as you become more well-known in the blogging world you will eventually have to deal with negative feedback. Whether it’s someone critiquing the way you write or the decisions you make, negative commenters are always lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. How you respond to these comments, however, is what can make or break you as a blogger. If you are the recipient of a negative comment, keep these five tips in mind before you respond:

  •  Remember that your blog is a public forum –  Before you let yourself get worked up over a comment that disagrees with you or is laced with negativity, remember that your blog is a public forum. It is the ability to express ideas – both that agree with you and disagree with you – that makes blogging such an attractive form of social media, so you don’t want to respond in a way that discourages others from interacting with you and other readers on your blog.

Almost No One Has Downloaded Android Jelly Bean

The official online color is: #A4C639 . ???: ?...

Less than 2% of all Android devices are running Google’s latest operating system – almost three months after it was launched.

Phone manufacturers have long been criticised for not bringing Android updates to their devices in a timely manner.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was unveiled in July, but is installed on 1.8% of Android devices, according to Google’s stats.

More than 55% are still running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, just under two years after its launch.

The stats are based on the devices which accessed Google’s Play store over the last 14 days.

Several key Android devices, including the Samsung Galaxy SIII, are yet to receive upgrades to Jelly Bean.

Samsung has promised to roll out Jelly Bean to the UK at the start of October, and availability is expected imminently.

People today are spending more time online and they are using social media as a way to stay connected and as a way to interact with the people around them. While social media has offered the world a great many benefits there are safety concerns that exist. The online sphere serves as a giant fishbowl. Anyone, at any time, can see into your online life and that fact prompts safety breaches. The threat becomes even more real for people who truly choose to put their entire life on the net; such as bloggers. These three issues are the biggest safety concerns brought about by the advent of social media.

1. Job Security and Legal Trouble

When you are traceable on the internet; like everyone using a social media network is, you open yourself up to scrutiny and if what is posted is embarrassing, illegal or troubling it can and will be used against you. 33% of all divorce proceedings, for example, contained the word “Facebook” in it. Lawyers, employers and even the government are using social networking sites to gather information about you. Thankfully this problem can be combated by keeping your social media sites private and knowing the people you add to your friend’s list. Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t want attached to you in person.

2. Making it Easier for Criminals

The social media sphere is the perfect playground for criminals because it allows them the option to check out someone without being seen or noticed. Bloggers are especially transparent so it makes it even easier for a criminal to use information about the person for nefarious reasons. For example, each day millions of people post about their life events and make it known to the public at large when they will or will not be home. They also post data that give criminals an in to their personal identity. A burglar in the area could easily surf social media for an hour a day and find people who are vacationing, getting married, or otherwise away from their home for a period of time. This is an easy in for anyone looking for a safe target to burglarize.

Emma Watson Named Most ‘Dangerous’ Celebrity

Watson

is the favorite celebrity bait for cyber criminals trying to lure Internet users.

McAfee said Monday that the “Harry Potter” star is the “most dangerous” celebrity to search for online. That’s because many sites use Watson to trick users into downloading malicious software or to steal personal information.

When searching for the 22-year-old Watson, there’s a one-in-eight chance of landing on a malicious site.

This is the sixth time the Intel-owned security technology company has conducted the study, which was last year topped by Heidi Klum. Female celebrities are far more likely to be utilized by cyber criminals: late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was the only male in the top 20.
